NEWARK — Alvin L. Williams Sr. of Newark said he joined a club in 2001 that he wished he hadn’t.
After bouts of blurred vision and shortness of breath, doctors told him he had diabetes.
"It’s a club you get in but that you can’t get out of," said Williams, 63, who exercises three to four times a week and has shed 81 pounds since his diagnosis.
New research shows that in the next 40 years there may be even more adults like Williams. read more

Exercising has plenty of benefits such as increased mood, weight loss, and decreased stress, but did you know that you can lose more weight in less time through interval training?
Interval training means exercising at a high intensity for a few minutes and resting for a short amount of time in between sets. This method of alternating higher intensity exercise with low intensity recovery periods helps to build endurance and burn more calories in less time than with a regular workout. read more
