NEWARK — Alvin L. Williams Sr. of Newark said he joined a club in 2001 that he wished he hadn’t.
After bouts of blurred vision and shortness of breath, doctors told him he had diabetes.


"It’s a club you get in but that you can’t get out of," said Williams, 63, who exercises three to four times a week and has shed 81 pounds since his diagnosis.


New research shows that in the next 40 years there may be even more adults like Williams. read more
